A Real Job

Well, it's been way to long and I apologize but I have good reason. I have been hired by our Chiropractor (where I was temping) as a part time receptionist and I really enjoy the job. It's called Santa Rosa Chiropractic Neurology Center. I know many of the patients as they are members of the stake. It's a whole new thing for me in the job market. I'm so glad that I was able to fill in successfully and that they offered me the job. It may work into a full time position when the receptionist who is full time now moves to So. Calif. the end of December. Now I don't have to do that whole resume thing. There are two Chiropractors and they do much more than just spinal manipulation. They have a learning enhancement center for kids and adults and have helped many who have ADD and the like. It is all very interesting.

I got my "big black boot" off on the 6th of September and gradually I am back into my shoes. I can't just jump into all of them as my ankle still swells but it is gradually getting back the mobility it needs. I don't feel real comfortable yet in shoes that don't have some support around the ankle or are high heeled but that will come in time. I even got a pair of "Crocs" for work as they are very comfortable for my feet and they don't bind at my ankle like athletic shoes do. I can wear my two of my 4 pair of boots to church so I at least have on matching shoes again!...hurray!!!! And I went to Physical Therapy last Tuesday and she said I was doing really well so she gave me the home plan exercises and released me. I just have to keep working at the flexibility and getting the scar tissue inside my ankle to stretch out.

Last night, Richard
and I went to South San Francisco for a gathering of the Galon family. We were able to meet Gwen's boyfriend, Yasir as they were here for her employer for a trade show. Yasir is a great guy. So very nice with a wonderful personality. They are such fun "couple" who are obviously in love; and they were even working in the kitchen together making appetizers and a marvelous Greek Salad. Gwen has become quite the cook these days and really enjoys it. The main purpose for the gathering was to meet Daisey Marie's son, Matt and his family. Matt was given up for adoption by Daisey Marie when he was born 27 years ago and he found her recently and they all have become very close. He is a delightful young man with a beautiful wife and two beautiful kids. They are expecting a third in April. See picture of Daisey Marie and her two grandkids, Frankie (the little girl) and Elijah with Mark and Kathleen's son Joshua standing behind. We had a wonderful time socializing with all of them and having a nice visit with Daisey (Gwen's mom) too.

Mark, Kathleen and Joshua (who were there too) have moved to Sebastopol recently as Mark is working at Kaiser in Santa Rosa. He is an emergency room doctor. We are happy to have them so close. Kathleen is expecting their second child and is due in April of next year as well. April will be a big month for this family. We are so thrilled for them. We plan on getting together again soon.

The Beginning...

Well, Here we go...I will start our first blog and then figure out how to make it fun with pictures etc. I love our families blogs so I will try and be as creative as they have been with theirs. I think it is a wonderful idea and I am open to any suggestions and help the rest of our family may have. I will show Dad how to do it and hopefully we will both contribute but as is the case with most of our family...it seems to be the ladies who do most of the talking. What a surprise!!

I had my Physical therapy appointment today and the therapist says that I am doing well and my ankle looks good. I will have my final appointment with my surgeon next week and an x-ray too so that we can be sure the holes in the bones where the long screw came out are completely healed. THEN I can wear "regular, matching" shoes. How exciting!!! I have two more appointments for PT and then I'm on my own with a program she will give me to keep doing at home until I am as good as I'm going to be with as much "normal flexibility and movement" as possible. I am excited to begin a walking program again too. I've missed that.

I also will be working a temp job as a receptionist for our Chiropractor for about 8 days while his regular receptionist is on her honeymoon. I go in for a full day of training tomorrow and then I'll find out when I start the 8 days. It will be a really good experience for me and it will give me a place for a reference when I send out my resumes for a full time job in the near future.
